Green roof extension

This contemporary extension is part of a wider refurbishment project, which will reconfigure the client’s living space to provide a more generous and suitable home for them and their growing family.

The scheme involves the construction of a large side extension, 3m below street level, which requires a large concrete retaining wall running the entire length of the property. The sequencing of these works was vital to avoid undermining the neighbouring structures.

The new extension will provide additional living space and entrance lobby, improved access to the property through a new sunken courtyard and the construction of a new dropped living room with a dramatic corner roof window and a large sedum roof providing visual amenity for those in properties above.

This was Acumens’ second collaboration with RCKA architects after completeing the stealth extension in Highgate earlier in the year.
